Jeffrey has worked at Teeling Petfood for some 15 years. He was one of the first people to operate our machines in Hoogeveen. He started as an operator and has now progressed to production manager. In this article, he tells you all about his work at Teeling Petfood.
From operator to production manager
Jeffrey has grown so much since he started working here. He went from operator, to technical operator, substitute shift manager, shift manager, assistant production manager and now he’s the production manager. Having trained as a car mechanic, he already had technical knowledge, but also followed further training at Teeling. What’s so good about working at Teeling Petfood?
‘It’s just a really great and friendly company’, explained Jeffery. ‘When we need to work hard, we do that, and when it’s quieter we sit and have that extra cup of coffee together. If there are staffing problems, we simply call a colleague from the other team. 9 times out of 10 they’ll jump in or swap a shift without hesitation.’
According to Jeffrey, the five shifts also offer many advantages: ‘If you have a full-time office job, you only have Saturdays and Sundays off and it’s quite a short weekend. If you have five shifts, you’re off 24 hours in the transition between morning and afternoon shifts and afternoon and evening shifts and you also get four days off in a row,’ and: ‘You work an average 33.6 hours per week for a full-time contract but you’re paid for 40 hours.’
Jeffrey also occasionally speaks to colleagues outside work: ‘We sometimes have a day out in Emmen, enjoying drinks and a Asian-style dinner together.’ Company outings are also a regular feature. ‘We all played golf together once and we’ve been to the pavilion in Hoogeveen.’
